How to Change DNS Setting in Windows XP/Vista/7/8

  • Go to > My Computer > Dial-up networking or Network Connections
  • Now Right Click on your Internet Connection and select Properties
  • Now scroll down > Double Click Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
  • An Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Windows will appear
  • Now click on Use the following DNS address
  • Now in the following DNS server address field type your preferred DNS address.
Example: Below I have given Google DNS server address
Preferred DNS server: 8 8 8 8
Alternative DNS Server: 8 8 4 4
Now again click on obtain IP address automatically and save the setting. Now you will be able to successfully access any webpage without any problem.

How to Change DNS server in Windows Vista

  • Go to Start Menu > Control Panel
  • Now under Network and Internet > Click view network status and Tasks
  • Click on Manage Network Connection
  • Now you’ll see your connection (Local Area connection or anything) > Right Click on it
  • Click on Properties > Double Click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
  • Now click on Use the following DNS server addresses and type your address in the Field
Preferred DNS server: 8 8 8 8
Alternate DNS server: 8 8 4 4
Now click on save setting and you are done!
How to Change DNS server in Windows 7
  • Go to Start > click on Control Panel
  • In the search box type “adapter
  • Now under Network and Sharing Center, click View network connections.
  • Now right-click on the connection you are using example, Local Area Connection.
  • Click on Properties and double-click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
  • Now select use the following DNS server Address
  • Type your preferred DNS server address in the given field.
 Preferred DNS server: 8 8 8 8
 Alternate DNS server: 8 8 4 4
Now click on OK and you have successfully changed the DNS server in your Windows 7 PC.

How to Change DNS server in Windows 8

Now if you are using Microsoft’s latest operating System Windows 8 then do the following to change the DNS server in Windows 8.
  • Go to Control Panel or Type Control Panel in the start screen and click onControl Panel.
  • Now under Network and Internet click on View network status and tasks.
  • Click the link next to Connections on the right.
  • Now Right click on the connection you are using > Select properties
  • Double click on Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)
  • Select use the following DNS server Address
  • Type your preferred DNS server address in the given field.
 Preferred DNS server: 8 8 8 8
 Alternate DNS server: 8 8 4 4
Click OK and save the setting.
